I am trying to Install LinuxMint 15 in this laptop.

Fujitsu Lifebook LH 532

It is a brand new laptop comes with freedos.

I created 3 partitions for / , swap and /home.

The installation went fine.

Once restarted, it is looking for the booting device. :-(

If we go through the live, all the 3 partitions and files are there.

Any clues on this?

While in the partition section, there will be a dropdown in the bottom,
which will define where to write the boot. Select sda for that and you will
be fine.

Thanks,
Manikk

I suppose even grub menu did not show up. Generally grub should be
installed in /dev/sda (first hard disk). You can try grub-install from
live cd (please do a web search on how to use the command) before
doing a full installation. If it fails try to re-install.

Hope this helps,

Hi,

I faced the same issue in my new HP laptop. This is because of the secure
boot system by Microsoft.
Use gparted or any partition tool from a live distribution and delete the
GPT partition in the HDD and the run your OS setup.

Bad Idea, if you are dual-booting.

Thanks,
