Hi,
I could not learn more about the Team behind this initiative ,
Whomsoever is trying to do it they are missing on many grounds . one of
the main question to them would be is this a business or charity they are
trying to do ?

technology is the easy part there are many other pieces to this puzzle
which i may be of help , would like to have a business talk with the
founders to better understand what they want to achieve ?

I see some familiar lines with Rajagopal's post on another thread
(consortium of solution providers).

Great initiative. Are these training sessions free or fee based?

If you are interested on providing training on these topics,
What is the motivation factor for people who are interested in giving training?

+1 to Satyakaam's comment.

are you sure that freshers can pick up these things? i feel like most of
the freshers are not *good* at fundamentals. shouldnt we start with
fundamentals?

Answers from the Tenth Planet team for our queries.

1) The training is free for the participants - IT Jobseekers and
students. Our programmes are conducted only for unemployed graduates
and college students mostly from rural background.

2) The Mentors can volunteer and take part in these programmes and
contribute their time and share the knowledge to the jobseekers
community. There is no pay. We can take care of the food and local
travel arrangements. If we get any sponsors for the programmes then we
can pay the mentors accordingly.

3) Tenth Planet Open Source Foundation is a social enterprise which is
working towards reducing unemployment in the IT segment. For the past
5 years we have been conducting many free training programmes to
freshers on Foundation skills, Methodology skills, Product skills,
Business skills, Health & Wealth.

We nurture young talents and support SMEs and NGOs using Open Source.

We are working towards connecting the jobseekers with the Industry
professionals and Employers through our programmes.

Not to undermining anyone's effort , this is an Utopian dream come true ,
now i am seriously interested in this kind of enterprise to run in other
parts of the world , would you share those details as to how you guys do
the balancing act in terms of running the show , making money and doing
social good.

why i am asking is since its not possible to sustain this kind of effort
for such a long time the immediate costs which come to my mind are

1) Electricity.
2) Computers.
3) Internet.
4) Making and running the website.
5) Place.
6) Humans.

cheers
-Satya
ps: may be i can pay a visit to understand this better
